For more than seventeen years, at Illinois Bell and AT&T, Rick worked with many of the larger financial institutions in the Chicago area. His work with the Chicago Board Options Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange earned him several awards for outstanding customer service. He has received accolades from many large brokerage firms such as E.F. Hutton, Merrill Lynch, and The Illinois Company. During this time, he was responsible for the coordination of all marketing tracking systems, contract administration, accounts receivable, and equipment procurement for these prestigious clients.

After leaving the public sector, he worked for twelve years in the non-profit philanthropic sector. Here he forecasted and managed an annual technology budget of $2, 500,000. He set up and integrated several specialized applications for investment, accounting, and grant tracking efforts for two major foundations. During his tenure, Rick was appointed as Representative to the Foundation Information Systems Managers and Technology Affinity Group.
